Terms of Service

These terms of service apply to the use of VisScanner (visscanner.nl), provided by Myelin Labs, a sole proprietorship established in the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 42002898.

By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the Service.

3. Description of the Service

VisScanner is an informational web application that combines data from public sources (Rijkswaterstaat, KNMI/Open-Meteo, GBIF, PDOK, and others) with machine learning models to provide fishing information and predictions for Dutch waterways.

4. Account

Certain features require an account. You can sign in via Google or Microsoft. You are responsible for the security of your account. Each person may create a maximum of one account.

5. Subscriptions and payment

The Service offers three tiers:

Paid subscriptions are processed via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.

We reserve the right to change prices and features per tier. You will be notified in advance of any price increases.

7. Data sources and accuracy

The Service uses data from external public sources and generates predictions using machine learning models. We strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information is complete, up-to-date, or error-free.

The Service provides informational content and is not a substitute for professional fishing advice. Predictions and recommendations are estimates based on available data. Always comply with applicable fishing laws and regulations.

Fishing rights and permits

The Service displays fishing locations, species, and predictions, but does not provide information about fishing rights or permits. The fact that a location appears on the map does not mean you are permitted to fish there. As an angler, you are solely responsible for verifying in advance whether you are allowed to fish at a particular water with your permit (VISpas, written permission, or other licence). Always check Visplanner.nl or contact the local angling association. We are not liable for fines, damages, or other consequences resulting from fishing without a valid permit or at waters where fishing is not permitted.

Fishing regulations and protected species

The Service displays information about protected species, closed seasons (catch & release obligations), lure bans, and minimum sizes. This information is based on the Dutch Uitvoeringsregeling visserij and other public sources, but may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Legislation may change and additional local or regional rules may apply.

As an angler, you are solely responsible for verifying the current regulations before fishing. Always consult official sources such as wetten.overheid.nl or Sportvisserij Nederland. We are not liable for fines, damages, or other consequences resulting from acting on regulatory information displayed on the Service.

8. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the Service (software, design, models, text) belong to Myelin Labs or the relevant licensors. The underlying data sources (Rijkswaterstaat, GBIF, etc.) are subject to their own licences.

Fish species images on the Service are owned by Myelin Labs or sourced from Wikimedia Commons under the applicable licence (such as CC BY-SA). Images owned by Myelin Labs may not be copied, reused, distributed, or otherwise used without prior written permission. Images sourced from Wikimedia Commons are subject to their original licence terms.

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial use.

9. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law:

10. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or delete your account if you violate these terms. After termination, your data will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top indicates the last change. For material changes, we will notify you via the website. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
