Identification

A very small goby of only 3 to 5 cm. Light brown to translucent with irregular dark spots. Relatively large head with large eyes.

Ecology

Lives in shallow, brackish waters: lagoons, estuaries, and coastal lakes. Originally from the Black Sea and Caspian Sea region.

An exotic species spread via ballast water. Observations limited. Ecological impact insufficiently studied.
