Identification
Similar to the short-snouted seahorse but with a longer snout and often small skin appendages on head and body resembling algae. Reaches 12 to 17 cm.
Ecology
Lives in shallow coastal waters with dense vegetation. Even more dependent on vegetation than the short-snouted seahorse.

Extremely rare, even rarer than the short-snouted seahorse. Strictly protected.
