Identification
A small goby of 3 to 5 cm with a completely transparent body through which the spine and organs are visible. Males darker than females. Elongated and slender.
Ecology
Lives pelagically in open water above sand and mud at 15 to 400 meters. One of few pelagic gobies. Lives only one year. Feeds on plankton.
In the Netherlands
Found in the North Sea but rarely observed due to its pelagic lifestyle and transparency.
