We combine decades of scientific fish surveys with the life fish depend on (water plants, insects, small crustaceans and plankton), with water quality, lake depth maps and the weather. From that, our models work out which fish live in a water and where they grow big. Anglers' catch reports tell us when your chances are best. VisScanner is independent, and free to start with.

Our database holds 45.9 million recorded fish of 181 species, from 1965 to 2026. Plus the food web they live on: 245 million micro-organisms and 34.9 million invertebrates, each one counted, and 1.2 million plant observations. Read how many there are per species and how we deal with biased data.
