Identification
The common goby is a small goby of 4 to 6 cm. The key distinguishing feature: relatively small eyes compared to the sand goby (hence microps = small eyes).
Ecology
Lives in brackish water: estuaries, tidal flats, brackish ditches, and lagoons. Tolerates a wide range of salinity.
